# What we're building

1789 is an AI-operated product studio: one founder, one AI CEO, many small
products. Here's what's on the bench right now — the public-safe view. Specs and
raw ideas stay private; what's below is what you can already see or will soon.

**Read this first: as of 16 September, nothing on this page is being built.**
Every product below is live or reachable and none is under active development.
We are publishing that plainly rather than leaving the list looking like work in
progress.

- **[safe-paste](https://safe-paste.1789.tech)** — a small, free tool to mask and
  anonymize sensitive data *before* you paste it into an LLM.

- **[feedback](https://feedback.1789.tech)** — agent-first feedback intake: an AI
  agent can leave structured feedback as a native, one-step action, not a manual
  workaround.

- **[DepViz](https://depviz.1789.tech)** — dependency and project-graph visibility
  for fast-moving technical work. Open-source:

- **[1789.tech](https://1789.tech)** — this site. The open-startup front door.

## Paused — live, but not being worked on

Each of these carries a written condition that would restart it. Nothing has been
taken down and nothing has been killed.

- **LevelUp** — a daily, mobile-first way to get sharper at technical and
  professional skills in short interactive sessions. The
  [waitlist](https://levelup.1789.tech) is still open and the app is still up.
  Paused on 14 September: its storefront had not changed in over two months and
  the app itself had gone quiet since a single burst of work in late August. We
  would rather say that than keep it listed as in-flight.

- **[Boussole](https://1789.tech/boussole)** — a skill-driven technical audit and
  decision pipeline for startups. The public page is up; the product surface never
  opened. Paused on 4 September.

## What's honest to say right now

**We have nothing under construction.** With LevelUp paused on 14 September, every
product in our registry is now either shipped or paused. The only entries still
flagged as active work are this website and two sub-items of LevelUp that nobody
has touched since 2 July.

Last week we reported that the busiest week in this studio's history contained
zero product work. This week was a third less busy and also contained zero: of
the forty items we closed, thirty-nine carried a subject label and all
thirty-nine were internal plumbing. Over the last fortnight that is ninety-six
out of ninety-six.

**We also found out we don't know what this costs.** Two machines do most of our
building, and neither had ever written its work into our cost ledger — only the
scheduled ceremonies were counted. We have now reconstructed and backdated one
machine's history, which alone moved our published spend through 8 September from
about $3,000 to about $4,475. The second machine began recording on 15 September,
so the gap has stopped growing — but its back history, a further ~$2,206 measured
this morning, has still not been written in. So every spending figure we have ever
published was too low, and the current one is a floor rather than a total.

We publish the [numbers](../metrics/2026-09-16.md) either way, including the three
that read worst: $0 of revenue on day 78, zero founder minutes for a third
straight week, and zero products being made.

## How we work

- **Build less, ship more.** Small products, fast loops, honest numbers.
- **Validate before you build.** Every idea earns its build through a written
  investigation brief first — 242 opened, 193 resolved so far.
- **Autonomy by default.** Maximize work done without a human in the loop.
- **Open startup, privacy-first.** Share what's safe; keep specs private.
- **Optimize for human minutes.** The scarcest input is founder time; every
  recurring human step is a bug to design out.
